STEP 12 – TEAM SYNERGY

broken image

So far, we’ve talked about using each piece of the Athlete’s Kit on its own. Single oils provide amazing benefits, as we’ve seen.

But you can also use the oils together and take advantage of SYNERGY.

Synergy is the concept that when you combine two oils, the resulting combination is more effective than the effect of the sum of each single oil. In other words, one plus one equals the effect of THREE, rather than two.

This is one reason why Essential Oil blends are so popular.

Since the Essential Oils that come in the Athlete’s Kit are all so versatile, there’s a lot you can do by combining them. Let’s check out some recipes and ideas.

Outdoor sports and recreation can lead to irritated skin, especially in the summer. This After Sun Spray is cooling, soothing, and cleansing.

AFTER SUN SPRAY RECIPE

• 10 drops Lavender Essential Oil (to soothe)

• 10 drops Tea Tree Essential Oil (to cleanse)

• 5 drops Peppermint Essential Oil (to cool)

Combine Essential Oils in a glass spray bottle. Fill 1/4 of the way with Fractionated Coconut Oil. Fill to top with water. Shake each time you use and spray.

TIP: An option for extra relief is to use Aloe Vera Gel in this spray instead of water. This is even better for irritated skin.

Remember the On Guard Protective Blend Cleansing Spray from Step 4? Same concept, different oils for this recipe.

STINKY SHOE SPRAY RECIPE

•  1–2 tsp. Vinegar or Witch Hazel

•  Water

•  5 drops Peppermint Essential Oil

•  5 drops Tea Tree Essential Oil

Put Essential Oils in a 2 oz. glass spray bottle. Add Vinegar or Witch Hazel. Top with water. Shake and spray in shoes.

TIP: SOOTHING BLEND PLUS ONE

This is more of an application tip than a recipe. Melaleuca can help support healthy joint function and soothes body soreness after exercise, so try adding a drop or two to the SOOTHING BLEND RUB before applying.

TIP: STINKY CLOTHES SAVER

Do you (or someone in your family) have those exercise clothes that still smell stinky and musty after being washed? Essential Oils can help get that lingering stench out so you can breathe easy the next time you wear them to work out.

Just mix a drop or two of Peppermint, Lavender, and/or Tea Tree Essential Oils in with your laundry detergent. Or put a couple drops on dryer balls and pop them in when you’re drying clothes. You don’t have to smell yesterday’s workout during today’s!
