STEP 9 – PEPPERMINT ESSENTIAL OIL

broken image

As you’ve probably noticed, the Athlete’s Kit is full of versatile oils.

PEPPERMINT, our next Essential Oil, is no exception.

PEPPERMINT can be used aromatically, topically, and internally and provides benefits to many of the body’s systems.

First, it’s cooling. You know those times when you just can’t cool down? Dilute PEPPERMINT with Fractionated Coconut Oil and apply to the back of your neck or pulse points for a cooling, soothing sensation. Or put a drop of PEPPERMINT in your pre-workout water or smoothie to help you stay cool AND hydrated.

PEPPERMINT is also great for the digestive system. It can help alleviate occasional stomach upset. It’s also uplifting, so it’s still helpful if the stomach upset is due to nerves that can come with a big game or important event.

It can be tough to stay focused when you’ve got a lot going on. Crowds, competitors, and other concerns distract from the matter at hand. PEPPERMINT Essential Oil can help you stay alert and focused.

It can also be tough to focus when you’re tired. If you’re not a morning person but have an early practice session, don’t worry—the invigorating, stimulating aroma of PEPPERMINT Essential Oil can really wake you up! Put a drop in the palm of your hand, cup your hands, hold them to your face, and inhale. Adding Wild Orange and/or Frankincense Essential Oils is even better!

As one of the ingredients in the Respiratory Blend, it should come as no surprise that PEPPERMINT Essential Oil promotes healthy respiratory function and clear breathing. Dilute with Fractionated Coconut Oil and apply to the chest during your pre-workout routine to help support your respiratory system.

This oil also repels bugs naturally, so make sure to put a few drops on your clothes when you’re out in a buggy area. Running or hiking through the woods or sitting in dugouts where mosquitos like to hang out are two examples of places where you’ll be glad to have applied PEPPERMINT!
